My Little Chef Bryan

Bryan, cooking up a storm... guess what he's cooking?

First, the tomatoes

Chopping them up into smaller pieces... his "smaller" pieces are actually quite huge still

Browning the minced lean beef

Eyes on the pot!

"The pot is spitting at me... here... you do it" so I took over while he...

prepared the lettuce. He washed the leaves and ....

cut them into smaller pieces...

Yup! My baby made tacos!

Here's the mince...

and the lettuce

and here he is filling up his hard taco shell

Don't forget the cheese!

Eyes on the whales on TV... sigh....

Digging in!

Wait! One isn't enough.... Time for a soft shell taco...

Same process....

Hmmm.. something doesn't feel right...

Something's DEFINITELY wrong..... I'm getting more crust this side.... hang on...

(Refolds it)

There! Perfect half folded!

Time for 3rd helping...... I choose ..... hard taco shell again!

Looks appetising...

Bryan's teacher told me that he has learnt how to cook  a "Mexican dish" at life skills class but he never told me about it! So we went shopping yesterday after school and bought all the stuff. He was the boss. He chose the beef, the tomatoes, the taco shells, THE WORKS! And today, he cooked it.
I'm glad Bryan learns a lot of life skills from this school. He has come a long way with therapy, thanks to the education support in the school here.
Poor boy is still at home with a chest infection and will probably only go back to school next week. I've been home for the past few days as well. Going bonkers soon, so I'm heading back to work tomorrow and working through the weekend till next Tuesday. It's time Derrick stayed home and do some housework!

Bryan's First Holy Communion ~ 11 August 2013

Another one of Philina's wonderful creations. I can't believe how real the chalice and the paten look! Honestly, everything you see up there is edible, except for the little boy figurine and my table. Even the white back(drop) is made of fondant!

Had this picture framed for my office. I notice I hardly take pics with both my kids together. So, this is one rare one taken after mass.

Bryan's choice for lunch.... Domino's Pizzas!

Today went by not without a blooper. Bryan did beautifully bringing the chalice symbol up to the altar during the entrance procession. He did wonderfully bringing food items up to the altar during offertory but when came for him to accept his first Holy Communion, he had just about had it. It was too much for him, the sounds, the crowd, today's mass wasn't the "usual" for him because of obvious reasons.

Luckily, everything went smoothly..... from lifting the Body of Christ into his mouth (which he gladly lobbed it into his mouth from his palm), to drinking the Blood of Christ (he didn't drink it the first time, he merely mimed drinking. So Brother Jerome gave him another go at it. I gently urged him with a "just let the wine touch your lips" and he did just that..... and after that, promptly grabbed Brother Jerome's hand and the cloth......... and proceeded to wipe his mouth with it. Sigh.....
It was really hard for me to keep a straight face after that.

Well, like all other kids, he's work in-progress. Till he receives the next Sacrament in 2 years!
