20th February 2009 started as a normal school day for Bryan, only thing different was that he had with him 40 Freddos chocolate packets to share with his classmates. He received a very pleasant surprise too!... His teachers gave him a packet of dinosaur toys! He was thrilled to bits!
After school, just as scheduled, he came home to tea and a further 2 hours of ABA with pretty Amanda, from 3.30-5.30pm. Full day, eh? Just like a working adult.... then he had his wish.... MacDonald's nuggets with his Cheh Cheh followed by his favourite, icecream cake... what else.. a Freddo's, of course.

Water Babes
It’s been a long while since I posted the kids’ swimming pics. Caitlyn’s a little weak with the kicking…I mean, look at her legs! Like a pair of chopsticks! So I get her to jump on the mini trampoline at home, do some out-of-the water kicks. Last Sunday showed better results. This girl ah… eats lots but still so skinny… I guess like the mummy huh?
I Wanna Do It Myyyyyyyyyyyyy Waaaaaaay
Bryan is a little daredevil… loves to swim on his own, refuses any sorts of floatation devices. Dives constantly… My theory is that he loves the serenity underwater because being there cuts off ALL the surrounding sounds which he has learnt to cope (abt 90%). He told Glenys he wanted to swim like a dolphin, which is a higher level swim style.. Of course Glenys said no, thinking she wants to continue to work on his free-style first. And to Glenys’ surprise, Bryan did the dolphin on his own! I don’t mean to toot my own horn but … DAMN! Even I can’t do it!

Bryan's First Day of School
Term 1 for Bryan started on the 3rd Feb 09 instead of Monday because Canning Vale Primary School had staggered days for the pre-primary kids. Bryan shares his class with 14 other Pre-primary kids and 10 year one kids. Although they’re in the same class, the teachers do run a separate curriculum. I’m glad Bryan has more chances to mix with older kids. He is heads and shoulders above the kids! This isn’t his school uniform, which I only collected on day 1 itself.
THIS is him in his school uniform.. still posing like how his dad does...a la Sly!

Enlightenment …
The 7th Feb 09 marked one of Bryan’s milestones…. I took him to Sunset Mass. He sat next to me throughout Mass, holding on to his few dinosaurs and a shark. I even brought with us his dinosaur encyclopedia. He looked right at my face when it was time to sing and throughout the hymns.
I took every opportunity to look back at him cos with him, any sort of eye contact is, pardon the pun, heaven sent! He found a piece of blu-tac and that kept him pretty busy (he misses his Play-doh!). He behaved very well throughout. I must say, I was and am still very proud of him. Friends of mine who know about Bryan’s condition, gave him heaps of praises after Mass.
We were seated 4 rows from the front and Bryan took the atmosphere in.. the candles on the Altar, the high ceiling in the hall… which he whispered out loudly at one point…”Look at that giant spider web!”, which drew sniggers from those around us. He knew he had to be quiet, so he whispered. At times, he got fidgety, he started breaking into echolalia ala Charlie and Lola. But as long as I flashed him the “stop!” COMPIC and showed him the social story again, he would settle down. I could feel his springs winding up in that hour. I promised him the minute we reach home, I’d reward him with his “crash, boom, bang” car and a go at the trampoline.
There were candles on the altar, and Bryan thought he could blow them out…. 15 feet from them! It was funny, watching him huff and puff, trying to blow them out.. until I told him “Bryan, you’re too far away”. He didn’t let me kneel down to pray initially. But at the 2nd time I needed to kneel, and he told me to “sit down mummy”, I told him “ in a minute” and went 100miles per hour with my prayers before I got up.

On the whole, the experience was very pleasant. I hope he does the same this Saturday. For him, twice is enough to burn it into memory. Ah.. the beauty of routine and rote learning….

First Day of Term 1, 2 Feb 2009
First Day of School for Caitlyn…..
Term 1 started on the 2nd Feb 09 and Caitlyn’s in Year 3 Blue at St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School. She loves it there. Here she is in her summer uniform, all raring to to. Her school colours are blue and Gold. It's been a hot month, so luckily she requested for her locks to be chopped off at the beginning of summer.... and besides.....it's quite hard to look for gold ribbons for her hair. Darn hot weather one day and window the next! Oh yes, just in case you were wondering why her "skirt" is so short, it's actually a "skort", a shorts and skirt combo....

Tinkerbell
Ta Daaaaa!
Hmmm.... Now where does this go again?
Caitlyn had a huge surprise on Sunday, receiving a surprise present from my dear friend Wendy. Her sister has a toy shop in Hong Kong and Wendy brought this one back for Caitlyn after a Toy Expo there. She fixed it up with Dad’s help. Quite a Tinkerbell she is. It’s a Turbo-Fan!

Either the Horse Did Big Poop or ..........
Hazard a guess what the above picture was supposed to be? Horsey had too much to eat the day before? Horsey egg? Look closely....
Behind the horse is actually, a potato. Bryan wants to magically change the potato into a carriage, using her tablespoon as a magic wand. And of course, change the toy horse into a real horse. Ah.. the power of imagination.. now where's the monopoly money....

1 Is A Lonely Number
1 is a lonely number.....NOT!
Took Bryan to pick Caitlyn up from St. Emilie's. And instead of running to the playground, he turned the other way and played with sand.... and more sand... with his dinosaurs. And when he got home, he had sand in all 5 of his pockets, in his shoes, in between his toes... hair, cuping telinga.. You can actually see a bit of the slide behind him.. big playground...

I Am Speechless!
Mother of all messes
Digging for fossils
Digging for fossils
I was on the phone enquiring about tuition classes for Caitlyn and while I was doing that, Bryan wrecked havoc in the bathroom. I guess he was getting in touch with his feminine side.......in my makeup drawers. See the black goop on his face? It's my black Clinique mascara. He drew lipstick over his hands, dug into my $48 dollar BRAND NEW Clinique compact powder, dug for fossils in my eye shadow and rouge, used my powder puffs as dinosaur chow. And to top it all off, he used my comb, dug some lipstick on it and started to comb his hair..... So this is his "finished" look.
Handsome or not?

Sweet Dreams Aren't Made With This...
I really don't know where to begin. My pal Philina presented me with a set of evening clutch/sling bag and a black watch which came wrapped around a little pillow. Bryan thought it was cute and took it. When I saw what he did, I had to laugh and take a pic..
What he did was, he took the tiny pillow into his room, threw his pillow on the floor and placed the tiny pillow nicely on his bed. When I put his pillow back on his bed, he threw it back on the floor.
Anyway, night came and at first he tried sleeping on it but it kept slipping off the back of his head, so now Ol' Croc has his own little pillow!

Tong Tong Chiang!
Ready, Steady.......
And Up we go!!!
And Up we go!!!
For the 3rd year in a row, the Chin Woo Association has showered prosperity on St. Emilie's Catholic Church/Primary School by performing their amazing lion dance. Angel's the one in blue, holding the lion's head. Not bad eh, sis? Only thing this shot was taken a tad bit too far away, otherwise we'll be able to see the sweat stains at your ketiak.
I was standing with Father Paschal, a visiting Irish priest, whom incidentally said goodbye to us for now as Father Robert will be back this Saturday. As this was his first lion dance encounter which he participated, I'm just as glad he had this experience with us.

Human Emoticons
Look Ma! No Hands!
Sometimes Bryan thinks of things only he can......COnfused? Well take like, a week ago, he called out to me and said "Look Mummy, a smiley face!" and he merely propped his chin over the half wall... so at my angle, all I saw was his smiley face (no neck) on a flat surface... then Derrick thought it was fun and decided to play along.... of course, dad somehow didn't "know" the rules...
