The Morning After

How was my X'mas many people ask?
Never mind that I have an 8 straight working day....That provides me some getaway from the cacophony at home.
23/12: only 3 hours of sleep
24/12 night: 2.5 hour sleep at night after Midnight mass
25/12 night: Woken up numerous times by howling winds

If anyone asked me what I'd like to have for X'mas, I'd say "Sleep!" but did hubby pick up on that? Nooooooooooooo! He got me the most romantic present... EVER! It's plastic, it's hard and it's long..... Wanna hazard a guess? I'm offering $100 to the one who guesses correctly.

This Picture Paints A Thousand Word.....

With a sudden, deafening bang at 4 bloody a.m. and a quick vroom into the dark, our weekly newspaper is delivered... every Sunday, without fail. You see how the papers look like a projectile? You can just imagine what sort of damage it can inflict, being flung from the side of the road onto MY bedroom windows. First to go were my solar lights, then my new plants. But when they took out one of my dwarf comrades, it was WAR! The rest of the 6 are still in mourning. I have a front lawn, I have a driveway and I have a bloody side garden which leads all the way to my neighbour behind my house and yet, PowerArms preferred to deliver it straight to my bedroom window.
So I called up the powers that be to get right to the bottom of this. Good thing is that as soon as the complain was lodged, I now get my papers delivered....... just outside my gate.
If you're thinking I've chucked out good ol' dwarf there, Derrick still has it sitting somewhere in the garage, in hopes of gluing it back together again. Sigh! Nothing gets past this man. We've still got a broken bed in the garage "waiting to be fixed" by him.

Has It Really?

Has it really been THAT long since I last posted an entry? I tellyu, time flies man.. especially now that I've started working.

Let me re-cap: Started working on the 6th September of this year and after that, it's been full-on with mom and aunt staying with us and then now, my MIL.

Life's been good thus far UNTIL................. this happened...

My paleontologist son, decided to give his mom an early X'mas present.... a heart attack. This poor boy was kneeling on a bar stool in my study, drawing dinosaurs on the white board. He took a step back and fell.... gracefully, I might add. And what do they say about falling and being ... well... fat? His left arm whacked against my study table and the impact fractured his arm clean. That brave bull didn't even shed a single tear! He just sat there, cradling his arm and whimpered. When I went over to him to hold him, all he said was "don't touch me, mummy". What a mess.... I couldn't even cuddle him! Took him to the nearest ED and got it back slabbed. Saw the surgeon the next coupla days and reinforced the back slab and sent us merrily on our way. Poor Bryan, it's hot, he loves water play, will not be able to get into the pool for at least 4 weeks. Oh well, at least his dinosaurs aren't amphibious.

So there. Here's a snippet of what's been happenin and I feel like crap about the fall....

Oh My Aching Tummy

I am paying the price for eating too much too often. Gastritis now... Could be from a bug I swallowed along with the tonne of hawker food I ate). I've seen the Dr this morning, eaten meds and yet, the pain still lingers... but does that stop me from eating? Oh nooooooooooooo..... Does that stop me from going out? Oh nooooooooooooooooo............ Rain or shine (rain, mostly), I still headed out this morning to my old work place, met up with some ex-colleagues and had lunch there at Woodbridge Hospital. Ahhhh memorieeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss!

Rain Rain, Go Away..

Hubby thinks it's good that it rains here... then I won't go out to shop. But what he doesn't realise is that it usually rains at sparrow fart, like now and stops at about 10ish... the time when the shops open, see? Just like yesterday for instance... did the morning rain stop me from buying stuff? Noooooooooooooo. Ah... my simple minded hubby.

Ooooh and YES! Guess what I saw yesterday at Plaza Singapura? A Sanrio shop! My goodness! I went ape! I grew up with Hello Kitty and Little Twin Stars! Hubby didn't understand why I went crazy inside. Managed to get a insulated lunch bag for my niece. If he wasn't there with me, I would have bought the golden Hello Kitty purse. Maybe in the next few days, when I go shopping without him....

Many Many Months Later ............

I am now in Singapore, enjoying (NOT!) the weather (but better than the 0 degree temp at Perth now), doing lots of shopping, eating and swimming. Now THIS is the life.

The most adventurous thing I've done in the last 5 years was going shopping at 1-4am last week... at Mustafa's. Still not finished yet. Still have lots I've not seen there. I'll wait and see when my BIL is free again.....

Derrick's still a tightarse when it comes to shopping and spending money. For example:

Me: (picked up 2 boxes of 2B pencils - 24 pencils altogether - and putting it in basket. $1.95 BEFORE 20% discount)

Derrick: Why you buy? house got so many. Don't buy don't buy.

Me: Aiya cheap ma.. sure need one, the kids do homework at home. Buy and keep la.

Derrick: House a lot la... don't buy la.... (went on for about 5 mins why I should not buy)

Me: (Fed up already) took the 2 boxes out and dumped it in front of him.OK la stop it la. 1 bloody 95 also make so much noise... (walked away).

Derrick: (Saw a packet of oblong-shaped "things") Why you buy eraser? So many at home already. Don't see and buy buy buy la. Must save. (went on again about buying erasers..)

Me: Eh hello... blind ah.. never see anyhow say.. they're staples size 10 la... eraser... never see properly anyhow scold. Get lost la.... (stomped to the counter to pay)

derrick: (saw Primary 1 assessment books) Why you buy? therapist say don't buy. You're not listening to therapist. Please la.. don't buy la....

Me: (Ignore therapy... queued up and paid)

Not happy with tightarse hubby.

Happy 6th Birthday My Dear Boy!

Bryan celebrated his 6th birthday on the 20th last month. At 123cm tall, he's growing up fast! He was looking forward eagerly to his Dinosaur cake that his teachers and therapists used that as the carrot for his work that week. It was hard to find a cake with dinosaur pictures, so I decided to get a plain Wendy's ice cream cake, complete with just rosettes and M&Ms and his name in chocolate and got a packet of plastic dinosaurs, washed them and decorated the cake with them. Bryan absolutely loved it!
Now where can I get plastic sharks for next year's cake?

I Know It's Been Too Long When.....

.......I try logging in to my blog and I forget my password. I'm serious. I tried logging into MSN chat yesterday using Derrick's lappie and I couldn't... why? Couldn't remember my password. Crazy but true.. Thanks to "auto-connect" I don't have to do menial tasks like "remember" anymore. Boon or bane, you tell me.

Aaaaaaaaaaaanyway, where have I been? Let me see. After "The Wedding" it was ...gasp!... yes, the dratted year end holidays. In those 40 degree heat, Derrick and I managed to pave the yard, build retaining walls and haul truck loads of sand and soil into the garden bed, singeing the very hairs on wherever's visible parts of our bodies. Don't worry, hair WILL grow back.......... right?

Mom went back to Malaysia on my birthday this year, which meant that I had to go back to cooking duties... BUT.. will be back here next Friday.. YAY!

Aaaaaaaaaaaand I'm hitting the books once again, going back to school... well technically, school is coming back to me.....
