One........... Singular Sensation

The rain didn't mar the anticipation that was brewing... I knew I was going to be in for a treat. But first, lunch with the equally artistic Simon Yam at To To Restaurant. 500g heavier later, with him as the navigator and me, almost slamming into a Sikh's blue...... (or was it red now?) turban, we managed to arrive at the now, Crown Theater. Parking was a nightmare but luck was on our side, we managed to get a perfect and free, I might add, parking spot. And yes, I can parallel park.
Armed with my Rekordelig and Simon with his Eau de Naturale and his glossy program, we made our way to theater 2. Perfect ambience. Good view of the dancers. Spotted a camel toe or two too! I digress..... on the whole, it was one singular sensation, every little step they took..

Birds of A Feather.......

Sista Bams in the middle has done it again..... She's one heck of an ad hoc party planner! She pored through 1001 names in the roster and found a date where all of us were free from work! It was no easy task, I tell you. I won't be able to pull it off without spending hours on it.

She organised a Secret Santa and even a lucky dip! Look what I got from the lucky dip!
Yes, at dinner....

Guess Who Loves Gangnam Style?

I had to sit through 5 continous cycles of Psy's Gangnam Style Video. The reason why I have a pillow under my thighs is because that girl will bounce around during the chorus and oh my bony prominences! I'll see if I can catch Bryan dancing like Psy on video and post it.... He'll do it when no one's watching.... so he thinks... and it's really funny cos you see all the blubber bouncing....

Too Beautiful to Eat!

I hardly bake... the best I can do is a banana loaf and maybe with powdered stuff from a cardbox box, so I leave my baking to the experts.... All I said was "Caitlyn loves sushi".... and dear Philina came up with this beautiful masterpiece. You've done it again (and again, and again...), dear Philina! No one had the heart to eat the sushis, although, they are, in fact, cake! I've taken a heap of photos, so bear with me, readers, I just want to immortalise them so that my kids can look at them in years to come. Now what do I say to Philina, for Bryan's birthday next year...... "Bryan loves sharks"? With Philina's endless creativity, you'll never know what she'll come up with next. Whatever that tickles her fancy, she really surprises the recipients (and on lookers alike) with sheer delight......... You can tell I am really happy with Caitlyn's cake, can't you... Oh the look on Caitlyn's first when she first saw it... PRICELESS!

Will Reap What I Sow..............

Recognise these? There will start to creep about but, hopefully, will yield kilos of beans and bitter gourd again. Farmer Joan will be busy this weekend...

12 Years Ago Today.....

12 years ago, today, you hinted your arrival a few hours after I had a black pepper steak for dinner and I thought it was the spice that made my tummy rumble.

12 years ago, today, marked your 40 weeks + 1 day gestation and mummy was in denial thinking "it can't be coincidence that contractions would start, like, ON THE DOT!"

12 years ago, today, your dad, was the one who realised that mummy WAS indeed having labour pains and was going into labour.....

12 years ago, today, your mom, still in denial, went to the hospital, stubbornly and still refusing to believe she was in labour...... IT WAS THE PEPPER!

12 years ago, today, mummy walked into the hospital with a 4cm dilation (enjoy your breakfast, readers!)........

12 years ago, you announced your arrival... very loudly, I might add..... all pink and soft and crinkly... Fast forward 12 years later, here you are: a beautiful, caring, thoughtful smart young lady!

Have a wonderful birthday, young Caitlyn! Enjoy your kiddy birthday this year cos next year, you'll be celebrating it.... Teenager Style!

Mine... MINE I Tell You!

This salmon pink little sofa was custom  made for Caitlyn when she was about Iesha's age. It still looks very new and in good condition and now it belongs to her little cousin. She pushed mummy off and claimed it. She absolutely loves it. I'm glad I lugged it all the way from Singapore.

Order UP!

Any idea what Bryan wanted for breakfast? Telling me wasn't enough. Hand gestures weren't enough... He had to write it AND draw it..... he must think his mummy's a dumb-ass....

Happy 12th Birthday, My Darling!

Caitlyn's favourite ...... Sushi anyone?

The spread with everyone's favourite dish.... Bryan's Kaarage, Angie's udon in Miso soup...

Baskin Robbins' 3 flavoured ice cream cake.... Chocolate, Vanilla and cookies n' cream
Birthday girl!
20/10/12 was Caitlyn's Day. Caitlyn got to choose where to go for both lunch and dinner. She chose (where else?) Sizzler for lunch and wanted Japanese food for dinner. It was rather low key. She prefers to have a big celebration next year when she turns 13.

Mini Spudshed

While I was raking soil improver into the soil, the more I raked through, the more potatoes I dug out! There were 32 potatoes all in all. It started with just 2 potatoes! Not bad eh?

No More Shopping At The Kids' Section Anymore!

Bryan has gone beyond Size 16 pants. He's now a bona fide small adult. So Simon, if you could just keep your size 34 and 36s, I'll trade them with you next year.... He's now 4 feet 8 inches tall... just nice for me to rest my cheek on the top of his head when he give me a cuddle. It nice to cuddle blubber.....soft and squishy.....

Got Rick Rolled Over!

Yes, guilty as charged.... I couldn't help myself, so I bought it. Go ahead laugh.... I still sing along to the tunes in the car. Oh that voice!!!!!! This is one S.A.W. CD I would gladly listen to over and over again.

Remember These?

What memories do these bring back, for you? My Singaporean friends should remember these well... Hint: The Golden Arches

Annual Leave ~ Day 6..... Mission: Seek and Destroy!

This sorry state used to bear this household kilos of capsies, chillies, long beans, string beans, tomatoes, bitter gourd, lettuces, curry leaves, palm for Palm Sunday, mint etc...... look at it now.... Almost barren. If the Tahitian lime tree there could speak..... you'll be hearing its screams..

Pineapple's doing well but I'm too impatient. The Leaning Tower Of Bitter Gourd Frame has seen better days.....

Who says you can't grow cili kering (dried chillies)? This is living proof that you can!

So I yanked everything out...roots and all.. That is Derrick's strawberry er...... shrub? kici mayung plant? Awaiting transplant.... he caught me clearing the sides and warned me not to throw it away, so he can transplant it elsewhere..... If he wasn't there, I'd rip it and just dumped it...

Re-conditioned the soil and I'll let it stand a bit to let the soil "rest"

I've pretty much used up the bags of soil conditioner and cow poo.....

Busy days ahead!!!!!!!!!!!

Went shopping... for food! Needed to ......
Stock up....... and also bought lotsa...

Only Bryan would follow me to the markets..... Caitlyn usually doesn't..... Kids..... they sure are growing up real fast! Before you know it, she'll be getting her L plates, then her P plates. Can't wait for that to happen!

Annual Leave Day 4 ~ The Graveyard Shift!!!!!

And on the fourth day, she rests..................Well, not REALLY... I did rest during the day because I was asked to cover a Night shift for a Nurse who was unwell. But it was all good, I just tidied the house, nothing too tedious. The kids were great. They let me rest.... Crap thing was I just couldn't sleep during the day and I tried catching some Zs before 9pm and I just couldn't! Anyway, I'm glad it's just the ONE night I have to put up with.....

Annual Leave Day 3

We were out the door by 9 in the morning.. The kids were so excited to watch Hotel Transylvania at Carousel with Philina and her kids. A little mix-up with the movie time ..... my bad! So we watched the 3D one instead. It was awesome nevertheless. The kids loved it. After the movie and a Japanese lunch, the kids had a Gelare treat! To top of a perfect holiday, the kids feasted on KFC for dinner..... I must admit, the I enjoyed it too......

Annual Leave ~ Day 2

Met up with a dear colleague  for lunch at Carousel on Tuesday. My kids were bored to tears waiting for the adults to stop chatting.... Caitlyn had finished reading her book and Bryan was getting bored with playing with Minecraft on the tablet... Note to self......
Kids + lunch with my friends = what was I thinking!

I was quite glad we came home pretty much straight after lunch cos Angie came over with Iesha soon after we got home and kids love spending time with their cousin! Esha loved the "plastic" bubbles and the tent. My kids are too big to fit in the tent, so it's hers now.

She just wouldn't let it go........

Durian Cake, Anyone?

Derrick's first attempt at baking a durian cake. It's basically a simple butter cake but he split the cake into half, smothered the middle with durian and cream mix and emptied the entire container of the cream mix ON the cake. If you had more than a piece of this cake, jelak man!

Day 1 of Annual Leave ~ Part Deux

Caitlyn's Raspberry float exploded... oh well, live and learn!
Bryan and his favourite "Nuggets and Fries with Fanta and Ice Cream PLEASE!!!" meal. It's the same order every time we go there.

Caitlyn's favourite, Chicken Parmigiana

My kids love dining at Sizzler's. Caitlyn wants to dine there again on her birthday. What a great way to start my holidays.

Day 1 of Annual Leave ~ Part 1

After a very very filling lunch at Sizzler's Riverton and a mini shopping spree, we headed home, mainly after Bryan complained of having a tummy ache after eating too much.

Despite the achy tummy, he still could monkey-around once we got home.

Anyway, I stripped all the beds, linen, pillows, bolsters etc... and washed 3 loads of laundry... and counting.... Thank goodness for a sunny day today. Managed to sun all the pillows, doonas and bolsters... Love the sun-dried linen smell.

All the food made me so sleepy. With no bed to sleep in, I slept... on the sofa, with Men In Black 3 blaring from the TV.

Still no peace for the wicked, I woke up, 2 hours after that, not really refreshed and started to cook! The picture above is the usual, chicken and potato curry....

Hong Kong Style Ribs

Briyani Chicken
All to be freezed

That's not all, these are marinated chicken (soy sauce chicken) and more Hong Kong style ribs!
So how has your day been?
