Snappy Shopper

Here we are at Ikea, planning our purchases for the new house. Bryan didn't want to go into Smaland, so after signing Caitlyn in there, Bryan wanted to go straight to the toys section. So we did. He looked like a giant next to the kiddy trolley. And what dya know... his sharp vision saw crocodiles! Finally! Something to keep him quiet while we shopped.

St. Emilie's Feast Day

ST. EMILIE'S DAY
Armed with $5 in change, Caitlyn went shopping last Friday in school. St. Emilie's Primary School celebrated it's patron saint's birthday. The day started with a morning liturgy by Father Robert and after that, kids went back to their class to learn about St. Emilie de Vialar and after their meals, they had fun. Different class "sold" something different. For Caitlyn's class, it was cupcakes... see http://abcdandsometimesw.blogspot.com/2009/06/cassy-caitlyns-colourful-cuppy-cakes.html .
Despite spending money on a cupcake, face painting and getting a hair-don't, she still had $2.60 left. She got her money's worth with the face painting.... look... so big the butterfly...

Daddy and Me!

Derrick and I took Caitlyn out to Sizzler's for lunch 2 Mondays ago. She loves Sizzler's. I do too. It's a rare treat for us. Since school closed for 2 days that week, I thought we'd do some Mummy and daughter bonding. I love spending time with her although she absolutely does NOT like shopping.

Almost There!

These photos were taken a few weeks ago. Notice the crack up on the wall in the above photo? The builder has to rectify all these nitty gritty problems before they can get the last lot of payment from us. We'll be going for the final inspection on the 2nd July, early in the morning. I'll be bringing along 2 friends who have lots of experience in this. I'm praying that it will be a smooth delivery and we don't have to wait long before we can start painting the house.

St. Emilie's Catholic Church - Ground Breaking Ceremony

St. Emilie's Catholic Primary School Choir
Monsignor Brian

Father Robert Parish Priest

Backdrop

Waiting for the ceremony to start

Archbishop Gregory Hickey
The Archbishop Gregory Hickey led the ground breaking ceremony last Sunday at 3pm. Finally, after 8 years, our Church will be built. The choir sang so wonderfully that I felt tears welling up in my eyes when they sang the school song. It has been raining for the past few days but the sun shone brightly that day... it's still raining these few days, pelting rain left, right and center.

Bryan's Chicken Scratch

Bryan and Caitlyn were making bookmarks a few days ago and Bryan made one for his Poh Poh. Can you make out his writing? He wrote his own name, without help. Small step, for us, giant leap for him, you know. For the next 6 months, it'll be full steam ahead for him: I'm trying to get him an ABA therapist for Mon and Tues as well. He's progressing very well in school but there's always room for improvement. He's very fortunate that his Case Manager goes to his classroom to work with him TOGETHER with his teacher assistant.

Cassy & Caitlyn's Colourful Cuppy Cakes

Last Friday was St. Emilie's Day. The day started with morning liturgy, with Father Robert telling us about the origin of the school and it's patron Saint, St. Emilie di Vialar. Alicia, my dear "God Daughter" and I baked cup cakes for Caitlyn and Cassy. Their class had a cup cake stall to sell cup cakes to the other students. I think the last time I baked cup cakes was when I was back in secondary school. Wait till I move to the new house, I'll start baking again. So how? Considering the fact that I'm a first timer... nice or not? If you ask me, blue is so NOT a food colour....
Note: Min, if you're reading this, I have lots to learn from you.....

El Gato

Caitlyn's class of Year 3Blue performed at their assembly last Thursday. They sang La Bamba ... the animal version. Caitlyn's El Gato (The Cat). After that was a dance number which the name of the song escapes me. It's good to see her standing at the front, singing and dancing because somehow over the years she's lost her show pony streak.... unlike the mom, hor?

Leaves, Leaves EVERYWHERE!

With windy days, comes lots and I mean LOTS of falling leaves.. Winter approaching ma, so trees have to shed lor.... right on my garden.. Here you see dried leaves on the garden bed, on the lawn, at the corner of the garden....

Got Name Tag Some more...

My sister made this name tag for me for my costume party. Like real, eh? Nice touch to the costume.
Instead of throwing the table arrangements away, Anne decided to "auction" them with all proceeds to orphanages. I eyed a balloon arrangement which decorated the main table, and I went straight to Anne to chope it first. $25 later, it was mine. My kids love it. I put it on top of my TV cabinet with my other decos.. nice or not?

Abby Chooto

Date: 6th June 2009
Venue: Irish Bar and Grill at Jandakot
Theme : Fancy Dress
Occasion: Gary and Anne's 20th Wedding Anniversary
Instead of busy dressing up, I was busy packing away the stuff in the house for an open-house the next day. I had less than an hour to shower, get dressed, put on make-up and the rest of the bling.... and oversee Derrick's err.... "costume".
This is me, all dressed up as Addy Chooto...
My goodness! Boy do I have a huge case of thunder thighs! This is the REAL Abby Sciuto
Anyway, here are the tats....

I couldn't find huge spider web ones.... The lab coat belongs to an XL, 6footer man, I was practically swimming in it..... buuuuuuuuuut I made it work.
Here's Vanilla (Sl)ice and me.... yes, that's Derrick trying to do his "meanest" pose... Sigh... he so CANNOT pull it off!

We were greeted by B1 and B2 (Bananas in Pyjamas) and Chief Shitting Bull, the emcee.

Joel and me

Here's Gabby saxing up Beauty and The Beast for her folksAnd here she is in costume..............as the Easter Bunny, flanked by Joel and Kathleen

Anne and Gary, strutting their stuff We had few doses of Tom Jones - he was hilarious too.
The blissly wedded couple
The function room was decorated by Anne and co. The flowers, the balloons etc... I gasakked 8 balloons home and the kids had so much fun with them.
Joel, me and Kathleen, both of them Youth leader of Sts. John and Paul, Willetton
Not many older folks know who Abby Sciuto is although a group of ladies shouted "NCIS" when they saw me. It was fun putting on the ensemble, I had to borrow stuff from my friends, all almost or more than 20 years younger!

Finally! A Night Out Tonight!

Sam and Angie have agreed to babysit the kids tonight cos Derrick and I have a fancy dress party to attend. Derrick will dress Hip Hop...... and I will let you all know tomorrow what I'll be dressed like. You'll be surprised, I assure you. Will post pics too.

It's the middle of Term 2 already? My goodness. Caitlyn's school will have a "pupil-free day" on the 15th and 16th June and I'll be taking the opportunity to spend some quality time with her... sort of like a "Little Girls' day" for us. She's very eager to start her day at Sizzler's. Heck! There goes my waistline... again! She's doing very well in and out of school. Teacher says she's one smart cookie. Guitar teacher awed with her progress, citing that she's the best student there. He's very happy that Caitlyn's "playing all 6 strings within 5 lessons". So being curious about it, I started to learn playing the guitar on my own and it's not easy! Sure it's easy reading notes but the strings are so different from the piano! I'm still on string 4, by the way.

Dr. Bryan Liew

I am a typical housewife... I get cuts on my fingers unknowingly. This particular morning, when I made a discovery, I said out loud "oh dear.. cut my pinky again....haiya" and went off grumbling to the "band-aid" drawer.... Lo and behold, Bryan came running to me, with his stethoscope and syringe... "wait mummy, let doctor see you". And being grumpy, early in the morning, I told him off "Go eat your breakfast first!"...... and he kwai kwai did.... poor boy... all he wanted was to make mummy better, instead he got told off... I think I'll face the syringe now.....

Indoor Exercises...

This is Caitlyn playing Wii's Rayman Raving Rabid Rabbit... or something. It's hilarious. Sends Bryan rolling on the floor laughing....

Foundation Day!

Today is a public holiday. Didn't go anywhere... except for Derrick.. he had a date with the family Dr for his chest infection. Finally, 2 courses of antibiotic, just like Bryan. My tonsil is swollen and I've got craters insides of my lips which feel as though UFOs landed on them last night.
Yesterday was St. Emilie's Parish International Food and Funfair and our Le Chon stall was a hit! The crowd thronged our stall. I mean... LOOK!The guys didn't have much room to move about.
The roasts were sold our within the hour. Luckily we had other cooked food to sell. The weather forecast suggested rain and thunderstorm but thank heavens it didn't rain. It was nice and cool.
This picture of the roast pig was painted by Philomena Too. She's our choir conductor at St. Emilie's Parish, a well-respected lady. I couldn't get a better shot of the picture as the daylights reflected off the picture.
The guys from the shop came to do the chopping up... the choir members weighed the meat, boxed them and sold them.
Alas, I had to head home by noon to feed the family and the funfair ended at 3pm.
